About Me
I am an Informatics PhD candidate at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. My research sits at the intersection of orientation and mobility, artificial intelligence, and usable security and privacy, with a focus on navigation technologies and transportation solutions for blind and low-vision explorers.
In particular, I am deeply interested in conversational user interfaces as a powerful and intuitive means of engaging with artificial intelligence systems, enabling more natural, context-aware, and human-centered interaction. Across my work, I prioritize individuals’ physical safety, personal security, and privacy, placing lived experience at the center of design and evaluation, with usability and accessibility as foundational principles.
In addition to my own work, I collaborate with exceptional researchers here at the University of Illinois, University of Michigan, DePaul University, and The Smith-Kettlewell Eye Research Institute across a range of areas, including data visualization in both two- and three-dimensional forms, embodied cognition, virtual reality, misinformation, and data science education.
